International master’s students from countries outside the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland can apply for the University West Scholarships to complete their programs. Successful applicants will receive tuition waivers of 25% for the duration of their master’s programs. However, they must meet the renewability criteria for these scholarships. Otherwise, they will become ineligible. In addition to the University West Scholarships, eligible students can qualify for scholarships from sources outside the university, including individuals, groups, associations, organizations, and government agencies, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for these scholarships. In addition, students can apply for external scholarships, provided they meet the conditions for these scholarships. 

Who sponsors the University West Scholarships?

University West and the Swedish government sponsor the scholarships offered at University West. They provide financial support to eligible students as tuition waivers. In addition, international students at University West can apply for scholarships from sources outside the university.

Overview of University West

University West is a university college in Trollhättan, southwestern Sweden. It had three campuses in Trollhättan, Uddevalla, and Vänersborg. However, in 2008, it relocated to the Trollhättan campus. University West enrolls about 13,000 students in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in many fields, including IT, economics and management, health studies, education, and engineering. It has four schools and departments. They include the School of Business, Economics, & IT, the Department of Social and Behavioural Studies, the Department of Health Sciences, and the Department of Engineering Sciences.

Furthermore, University West offers scholarships to encourage students with academic excellence. Thus, eligible international students can apply for the following scholarships at University West if they meet the requirements. They include:

  1. University West Scholarships for international students
  2. Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) 

#1. University West Scholarships for international students

University West Scholarships for international students are available to international students from countries outside the European Union, European Economic Area, and Switzerland. Successful applicants will receive a tuition waiver of 25%. Qualification for those scholarships is automatic for students with good academic records. Recipients can use them to complete their programs, provided they meet the renewability criteria. 

#2. Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) 

International students from eligible countries outside the European Union, European Economic Area, and Switzerland can apply for the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP). Successful applicants will receive funds to cover tuition fees, accommodation, and other living expenses at University West. 

#3. External Scholarships

In addition to the internal scholarships at University West, international students can still look for scholarships from external sources. Candidates who qualify for these scholarships will receive funds for tuition fees, accommodation, and living stipends, including transport, feeding, and daily expenses.

What are the benefits of the University West Scholarships?

Successful candidates for the University West Scholarships will receive different rewards. It depends on the scholarship provider to determine the value of each scholarship. The benefits of these scholarships include

  1. University West Scholarships for international students: 25% tuition waivers
  2. Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP): complete tuition fees, monthly stipends of SEK 11,000, and Insurance against illness and accident.

How many students will receive the University West Scholarships?

There is no definite number of students for the University West Scholarships. However, at least one international student undertaking a master’s program will qualify for each scholarship. Recipients will receive complete or partial tuition waivers, depending on the scholarship.

How long do these scholarships last?

The validity period of the University West Scholarships depends on the program. In other words, recipients will use these scholarships till they graduate from the University West. Thus, these scholarships can last up to two years. 

Applicable Courses

The University West Scholarships are available to international master’s students undertaking a program in the following faculties. They include the School of Business, Economics, & IT, the Department of Social and Behavioural Studies, the Department of Health Sciences, and the Department of Engineering Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the University West Scholarships must fulfill the requirements below. They include:

  1. They must be citizens of countries outside the European Union, the Europan Economic Area, and Switzerland.
  2. They must be international students who enroll in a master’s or research program at University West.
  3. Applicants must provide a motivational letter.
  4. They must submit their application fee and supporting documents 
  5. These scholarships are not available for distance learning
  6. They must meet the academic requirements

Can local students apply for the University West Scholarships?

The University West Scholarships are not open to local students. Only international students from countries outside the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland can apply for these scholarships. Nevertheless, domestic students who enroll in NY program at University West can qualify for scholarships from external sources like individuals, groups, companies, associations, NGOs, international organizations, and government agencies. However, they must meet the eligibility criteria for each scholarship they want. Otherwise, they will not be eligible. 

Can undergraduate students apply for the University West Scholarships?

Undergraduate students can not apply for the University West Scholarships. However, they can look for external scholarships from sources outside the university, including individuals, groups, companies, associations, NGOs, international organizations, and government agencies. 

What is the minimum requirement for admission to University West?

The minimum requirement for admission to University West is a high school diploma or equivalent,m depending on the country of origin. In addition, students must meet the eligibility criteria for each program or course they are applying for at University West. More so, international students must bring other documents required at the university. 

Can international students apply for admission to University West?

International students who meet the requirements can apply for admission to Univers West Sweden. However, they must provide additional documents for international students at the university, including proof of proficiency in English or Swedish.
