#1. Discount for needy students

International students at the University of Hagen can qualify for financial assistance from the university. These scholarships are available to bachelor’s and master’s full-time or part-time students at the University of Hagen. Needy students include students who depend on social welfare offices/job centers to earn a living, students receiving the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG), and prisoners who do not have enough funds to finance their studies. Successful applicants will receive tuition fees of up to 240 euros and a student union contribution of 9 euros for full-time students. On the other hand, part-time students will receive tuition fees of 160 euros and a student union contribution of 9 euros

#2. The Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG)

 The Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) is open to full-time students at the University of Hagen. Unlike the tuition discount, it is a loan for needy students. However, it does not have any interest. Therefore, recipients of these funds will repay them once they start working. 

#3. External scholarships

In addition to the tuition discount and the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG), international students at the University of Hagen can qualify for external scholarships from individuals, groups, organizations, government agencies, and foundations. However, they must meet the requirements for each scholarship they want.

Recipients of the University of Hagen Scholarships will receive tuition waivers of up to 240 euros. In addition, they will get a student union fee of nine euros for full-time students. Part-time students will receive tuition fees of 160 euros and a student union contribution of 9 euros. Successful applicants will use these funds to cover part of tuition fees and a few expenses at the University of Hagen. 

How many students will receive the University of Hagen Scholarships?

There is no definite number of students to receive the University of Hagen Scholarships. It depends on the scholarship provider to determine the number of recipients each year. However, at least one eligible student will qualify for each scholarship annually. 

What is the duration of these scholarships?

The validity period of scholarships at the University of Hagen is for the duration of the program. In other words, they can last for up to four years. 

Applicable Courses

Applicants for the University of Hagen Scholarships must be international students who enroll in programs at the following faculties at the University of Hagen.
