Since its inception, LOCALINTERNational has provided an international training environment for a diverse spectrum of participants from European, Asian, and Middle Eastern countries to study, mingle, and witness examples of municipal work.

The local international program is held with the involvement of new graduates and final-year university students. Our Union is always excited to host valuable young participants and give them vital local governing experience. Applicants are evaluated based on their passion for the program and objective criteria such as grade point average and English level.

The Union of Municipalities of Türkiye covers all participants’ expenses, including travel and lodging, and any additional expenses incurred due to their participation in the program. Participants receive a certificate after the program.

Along with the Turkish local government system, local government foundations, global and global organizations, local government, and city planning, the program includes sustainable development Goals (SDGs), migration, intelligent cities, zero waste, and energy-related local governments, which are among the main topics on the international agenda of local governments, as well as thematic features.

Between 2012 and 2022, more than 300 students from approximately 60 nations participated in the LOCALINTERNational program.
