The Sawiris Foundation for Social Development (SFSD) was established in 2001 with an attribute from the Sawiris Family as one of the first national donor foundations in Egypt. Since its creation, SFSD has focused on addressing the most crucial issues concerning the most marginalized Egyptians such as poverty, unemployment, provision of health services, and little or more access to quality education.

The Sawiris Foundation TVET scholarship provides three scholarship programs which are:

1. The German Hotel school in Gouna Scholarship

Sawiris Foundation offers scholarships for students in Egypt to study at the German Hotel School in El-Gouna. The German Hotel School is the only hotel school in El- Gouna to offer high-quality hospitality education that follows the double education system by bringing together theoretical study and practical training in hotels.

The study program spans three years and it is designed to give the students the theoretical background and German language skills they need to be professionals in hotel management. At the end of the study program, students acquire a diploma accredited by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Leipzig (IHK) and the Egyptian Ministry of Education.

2. Don Bosco scholarship program

Sawiris Foundation sponsors 10 prominent students every year to attend the Don Bosco Institute in Cairo to obtain an industrial diploma in 3 years of study or a technical diploma in 5 years of study in the areas of electricity and mechanics.

As an Italian secondary technical institute in Egypt, the institute has been an established model because of its ability to combine advanced practical training and upgraded educational techniques. According to a cooperation agreement between the Egyptian and the Italian governments, Don Bosco graduates can also be admitted to Egyptian and Italian universities.

The Don Bosco TVET Training is available for all deserving students across the Philippines. The online application gives room for applicants in far areas to send in their requirements and take the desired examination of their choice course.

3. Gouna Technical Nursing Institute Scholarship program

The Gouna Technical Nursing Institute (GTNI) was formed by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development in November 2009, in cooperation with Lawrence Memorial / Regis College in the United States of America. The GTNI aims to become a leading center in the areas of nursing in the region.

It also offers a two-and-a-half-year degree in nursing in addition to 3 months of internship, under the watch of Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education. The academic system in the GTNI is based in English with the availability of a serious English proficiency course in the preparatory semester.

  • Have a high school score to qualify for admission as defined by the National Placement Office.
  • Pass all admission tests, which include: the English language exam, mathematics, personal interview, and psychomotor examinations.
  • Undergo medical examination to provide evidence that they are free from any communicable disease or any medical condition that may jeopardize their future career as health caregivers.

For National Placement Office: Recent high school graduates (Science Section):

  • Interested candidates should apply to get admitted to GTNI through the official website of the Ministry of Higher Education – GTNI’s code is 995
  • Candidates should obtain their card confirming their eligibility to be placed at GTNI – Candidates should contact the GTNI Student Affairs Office, which is authorized to give complete information about personal interviews and pre-test dates, and the list of required documents.

For Direct Enrollment:

  • Candidates who have been enrolled in colleges and wish to transfer to GTNI should apply directly to GTNI by contacting the Student Affairs Office.
  • Interested candidates should also be holders of a high school certificate (Science Section) & provide transcripts of their high school and the institutions in which they are enrolled.
