Established in 1960 as The Pedagogical Institute of Tîrgu Mureş, Petru Maior University of Târgu Mureș changed its name to the Technical University of Tîrgu Mureş in 1991. However, in September 2018, Petru Maior University became part of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș. It used to have three faculties. They include the Faculty of Economics, Law, and Administrative Studies, the Faculty of Sciences and Letters, and the Faculty of Engineering. 

About the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș

Founded in 1945, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș is a public university in Târgu Mureș, Romania. It is among the traditional medical schools in Romania. Others include Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iași and Timișoara. The university offers programs in Romanian, Hungarian, and English. It has the following faculties. They include the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Sciences and Letters, and the Faculty of Economics and Law.
