Established in 2017, Merck KGaA Foundation aims to improve people through science and technology. Its focus is on providing quality and equitable healthcare solutions in underserved communities. It builds healthcare and scientific research capacity and empowers people in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), especially women and youth.

How much are Merck KGaA Scholarships?

Merck KGaA Scholarships do not provide monetary gifts to eligible candidates. However, they train young medical doctors and graduates from Africa. These students will use the facilities to gain training in critical and underserved medical specialties. The training and programs can last up to two years, depending on the scholarship. 

How many students will receive these scholarships?

There is no definite number of recipients of Merck KGaA Scholarships. However, more than 200 graduates and young doctors get a call to apply for these scholarships each year. Successful applicants will receive training from the foundation as healthy care providers in underserved medical specialties. 

Are Merck KGaA Scholarships fully funded or partial scholarships?

Merck KGaA Scholarships provide full training to young African doctors and graduates in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Medicine). However, it does not provide funds to students for daily expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for these scholarships must meet the following requirements. They include:

  1. They must be young African doctors and graduates
  2. Applicants can also come from counties in Asia
  3. There is a preference for students and doctors from French-speaking and Portuguese-speaking and SIDS (Small Islands Developing States).
  4. You will provide a bank statement from the last three months as proof of a financial statement

Eligible nationalities for Merck KGaA Scholarships

Only students and doctors from Africa and Asia can apply for Merck KGaA Scholarships. However, applicants must meet the requirements above. Otherwise, they will not qualify for these scholarships. 

Fees & Funding

Will domestic students apply for Merck KGaA Scholarships?

German students cannot apply for scholarships at Merck KGaA Foundation. However, they can apply for other scholarships from other sources in Germany. 

Can undergraduate students apply for these scholarships?

Merck KGaA Scholarships are not available to undergraduate students. Only doctors and graduates from relevant fields can apply for these scholarships. 

What is the minimum requirement for admission to a program at Merck KGaA Foundation?
