Lionel Murphy foundation Scholarships: Application Guide

Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarships are available to eligible postgraduate Australian students at any university annually. The number of wards for each year depends on the  Advisory Committee. Successful applicants receive an annual grant of $A40,000 to cover their tuition and other living expenses at any university in the world. However, only students who have completed an undergraduate degree in science, law, legal studies, or related disciplines in an Australian university can apply for these scholarships. In addition, applicants must enroll in postgraduate studies at any university of their choice.

However, permanent residents of Australia who have attained permanent residency status before a given year can apply for this scholarship, provided they meet other requirements. Applicants will download and fill out an application form for the scholarship at the link below.

Overview of Lionel Murphy Foundation

Established in 1986 after the death of Lionel Murphy, the Lionel Murphy Foundation is an institution that honors the contribution of Honourable Lionel Keith Murphy BSc, LLB in Australian public life. Thus, the foundation aims at providing postgraduate scholarships to Australian students to study law, science, and related disciplines in Austrian universities and abroad. 

Overview of Australian National University

Established in 1946 by the Parliament of Australia, Australian National University is a public research university in Canberra, the capital of Australia. It replaced Canberra University College. The university has seven colleges, including the College of Arts and Social Sciences, the College of Asia and the Pacific, the College of Business and Economics, the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Law, the College of Medicine, Biology, and Environment, and the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. It enrolls about  10,052 undergraduate and 10,840 postgraduate students. 

ANU College of Law provides the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarships for Australian students undertaking postgraduate degrees in science, law, and related disciplines at any university in the world.

How much is the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship?

Successful candidates for the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship will receive $A40,000 each per annum as part of their tuition fees, accommodation, and other living expenses. Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents who have lived in Australia for at least twelve months. In addition, they must obtain permanent residence before October 31 of a given year. Eligible candidates must be postgraduate students. 

How many students will receive the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship?

The Advisory Committee of the Australian National University determines the number of awards under the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship every year. Thus, the number varies depending on the decision of this committee. 

How long does the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship last?

Recipients of the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship can see it to complete their postgraduate programs and courses in science, law, and related disciplines. Applicants can enroll in Avustraliam universities or universities outside the country.

Only Australian students and permanent citizens undertaking postgraduate programs and courses in science, law, and related disciplines can apply for the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarships. In addition, they must meet other requirements for his scholarship above. Otherwise, they will not qualify for the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship. Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship will meet the following eligibility criteria before they apply for this scholarship. They include:

1. Applicants must be postgraduate Australian citizens and permanent residents for the last twelve months
2. Applicants must enroll in undergraduate studies in science, law, or related disciplines in Australian universities or abroad.
3. Permanent residents who want to apply for this scholarship must have obtained permanent residence in Australia by October 31 of that year.
4. Applicants must have completed or are about to end a bachelor’s degree in science, law, or related disciplines.
5. Applicants who have other scholarships may not qualify for this scholarship. Therefore, they must inform the foundation of the other scholarships they have. 

Eligible nationalities for Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship

Only Australian citizens and permanent residents can apply for the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship. However, applicants for this scholarship must meet the requirements above. Otherwise, they will not qualify for the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship. Applicants who are permanent residents of Australia must have gained their residency status before October 31 of that year.

Can international students apply for the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship?

The Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship is not available to international students. Only Australian citizens and permanent residents can apply for this scholarship. However, international students at Australian universities can get scholarships from individuals, government agencies, and companies available to international students. However, they must meet the requirements for each scholarship they want. Plus, they must consider some factors, including country of origin, field of study, and discipline, before applying for these scholarships in Australia. 

Is the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship available to undergraduate students?

Undergraduate students who are Australian citizens and permanent residents do not qualify for this scholarship. However, they can look for scholarships from individuals, groups, associations, organizations, government agencies, and NGOs available to undergraduate students from Australia. 

Can I apply for other scholarships with the Lionel Murphy Foundation Scholarship?
