About Kitasato University School of Vet

The Kitasato University school of veterinary medicine is an arm of Kitasato University. It is also a private medical higher institution established in 1962. This university is the first of its kind in the country, with its own research facilities. Its main university campus is located at Shirokane, Tokyo, and other university facilities are at the Sagamihara campus, just 60 kilometers west of central Tokyo. The Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students

This batch of scholarships receives funding and is issued to students by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). Students who achieved good academic results in the examination for Japanese university admission meant for international students will receive this scholarship. Winners will receive the scholarship for one year before they arrive in Japan. 

Eligibility criteria

  • Undergraduate and graduate regular students
  • Non-regular research students
  • Students with excellent academic records and morals but lack the financial capacity to further their education.

Value

Winners of this scholarship, both undergraduate and graduate students, receive 48,000 Japanese Yen every month.

Scholarship Duration

The scholarship lasts for one year (12 months), from April of the academic year of selection to next March.

Application

The scholarship begins every year in April. Students get recommendations, or the applicant applies by themselves. Candidates are selected through an internal screening. The Office of International Affairs will make the final selection.

Scholarship Benefits

Winners of this scholarship will receive either a full or partial tuition fee waiver for different years.

  • Students enrolled as graduate students in Kitasato University School of Veterinary and received MEXT scholarships as international students.
  • Those enrolled in the graduate school of Kitasato University as international students and were also recommended by the same university and selected as MEXT scholarship candidates.
  • Those who received scholarships as MEXT scholarship students and accepted at Kitasato University as non-regular students.
