Kumoh National Institute of Technology is Korea’s only leading engineering institute that leaps into the future of the industrial revolution. Being a national institute of technology, the school plays a crucial role in the sustainable development of the country’s industrial base by spearheading the transition to higher education system needed by future society.

The institution offers many scholarships to international students. These scholarships are open to undergraduate and postgraduate students seeking admission into the institution. The scholarship ranges from fully funded scholarships to partially funded ones and then to tuition discounts. To be selected for this scholarship, students must show a high level of academic excellence as well as meet the English language requirements. 

While there are also country-wide scholarships, students that graduated from KIT also stand a chance to benefit from the alumni scholarship program.

Who Sponsors the KIT Scholarships?

Being a national institute of technology, most scholarships in KIT are sponsored by the government. Although, individuals, companies, NGOs, and organizations also sponsor some of KIT’s scholarships. 

Overview of Kumoh National Institute of Technology (KIT)

Since its inception in 1980, Kumoh University has expanded alongside Gumi – Korea’s electronics industry’s origin, into a national industrial complex that has emerged as a world-class leader in IT industries. The institution has established itself as Korea’s sole engineering-centered specialized national university by concentrating on strategies to cultivate great engineering skills that have driven Korea’s industrialization over the past 40 years.

Kumoh National Institute of Technology is a modest but mighty institution. With the start of the fourth industrial revolution age, the institution is beginning a new chapter in the future of university education. Besides, Kumoh institute contributed to the establishment of the first 5G+ test network and created a dynamic system that comprises research, technology commercialization, and industry-university cooperation.

Scholarship Benefits

Kumoh National Institute of Technology awards many scholarships to students to help reduce the cost of education. For undergraduate programs, the best overall student who had an excellent score in their institution receives a 100% full tuition waiver plus other benefits. Also, foreign students who performed excellently in the special screening exercise organized for foreign students get an 80% off tuition fees plus other benefits. While students who got 1.6 or high grades in their last semester receive a 20% tuition discount.

In addition, newly admitted or transferred international students who completed the Korean language drilling course from the Institute of International Exchange &Education for more than one semester in a row, stand a chance to receive up to 50%, 40%, 30%, or 20% tuition discount depending on their performance.

How many students will qualify for the KIT Scholarship?

Although not all international students will qualify for the Kumoh national institute of technology scholarship, a good number of students with matching criteria will be awarded. KIT school is very magnanimous when it comes to awarding scholarships to deserving students. All you need to do is to make sure you have a good CGPA and score high on your English language test. 

How long do these scholarships last?

Depending on your course of study, the fully funded scholarship lasts for a complete four years, while the partially funded scholarship lasts for two or more academic sessions.

Prerequisites for KIT Scholarships

In order to be eligible to apply for the KIT scholarship, master, Ph.D., and integrated master and doctoral course applicants

  • Must have parents who are non – Korean by citizenship.
  • They must have a bachelor’s degree or any other degree considered valid by KIT
  • They must have a minimum score in any of their Korean or English language tests.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Kumoh national institute of technology scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have got excellent grade in their last semester throughout the whole school year among those admitted by special screening of foreign students.
  • Must score 1.75 or higher in their last semester.
  • If you’re a Freshman, your language proficiency test result is required.
  • A 3.5 out of a 4.5 GPA is required for already enrolled students.
  • Candidate for the scholarship student is.
  • For Institute of International Exchange & Education, completion of a Korean language training course for at least one semester and/or newly admitted or transferred to the undergraduate course in that current year is required.

Documents

The following documents is required:

1. Completed a application form in Korean or English language and attached photograph 

2. Your undergraduate and/or graduate

Certificate/Diploma (if diploma, submit a photocopy not original).

3. Your undergraduate and/or graduate academic Transcript.

4. Your English language test results (TOEFL, TOPIK, IELTS, TOEIC, TEPS)

5. A copy of your passport or Alien registration card(if you have).

6. For Chinese candidates, present a family register or document confirming that both of your parents are non Korean citizens. Along with proving family register or document, your relative’s ID cards are also required

7. An essay stating your interests and purpose

8. Present your study plan 

9. Proof of sufficient funds –$18,000( bank statement or other financial certificate are acc

10. Certificate of scholarship

11. Letter of recommendation for alma mater
