Karlstad University Scholarships are available to international students at the university who are not citizens of countries under the European Union/European Economic Area and Switzerland. In addition, they must require to pay tuition fees at the university. Also, students from the following countries do not qualify for these scholarships. They include Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. However, they can be eligible for the Swedish Institute Study Scholarships. Applicants for these scholarships must submit them before February 1, 2023. And interested candidates must pay their application fee before then. Otherwise, the university will not accept their application. The university covers part or complete tuition fees of eligible candidates.

Established as the Karlstad campus of the University of Gothenburg in 1967, Karlstad University became an independent university in 1977. It is a state university in Karlstad, Sweden. It offers over 40 education; programs,  30 program extensions, and 900 courses, including humanities, social studies, science, technology, teaching, health care, and arts. In addition, it has the following faculties and schools. #1. Karlstad University Global Scholarship

It is available to students with outstanding academic records from countries outside the European Union/European Economic Area and Switzerland. In addition, applicants must be students who pay their tuition fees at the university. In addition, students from the following twelve countries do not qualify for this scholarship. They include Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Successful candidates will receive complete or part of their tuition fees for a year at Karlstad University. The waiver can be 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of the tuition fees, depending on the student receiving the award. Recipients of scholarships at the university can not use them to cover their cost of living in Sweden. 

#2. The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships

Over 500 scholarships are available through the Swedish Institute for students from developing countries at any Swedish university, including Karlstad University. It allows the students o complete their programs at any Swedish university. Eligible nations include Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. In addition to this scholarship, international students at Karlstad University can apply for scholarships from other sources in Sweden, including individuals, international organizations, and government agencies.

What are the benefits of Karlstad University Scholarships?

The value of each scholarship at Karlstad varies, depending on the scholarship. However, most scholarships offer students tuition waivers of up to 100%. Thus, recipients of these awards will get 25%, 50%, 75%, or 10% tuition waivers, depending on the source of the scholarship and the academic performance of the student applying for this scholarship at the university. Applicants can not use these scholarships to cover their living expenses at the university. However, they can apply for scholarships from sources outside the school which they can use for daily costs in Sweden. 

How many students receive Karlstad University Scholarships?

More than 500 students receive scholarships at Karlstad University. Successful candidates will receive funds for their tuition fees for a year. Eligibility Criteria

  4. You may lose your eligibility for this scholarship if you change your program at the university
  5. Applicants who receive deferment will lose their validity for the scholarship
  6. You must be an international student from eligible nations

 In addition, students will become ineligible for this scholarship if they 

  1. have lived in Sweden for more than two years from the date of application for this scholarship. 
  2. hold a Swedish passport or work permit
  3. are holders of scholarships from the Swedish Institute or a Swedish university/university college
  4. obtained a master’s degree from a Swedish university or college.

Eligible nationalities for these scholarships

Only international students from selected countries qualify for scholarships at Karlstad University. In other words, students who qualify for any scholarship at Karlstad University must come from eligible nations. For instance, students from EU/EEA nations do not have access to any scholarship at the university. In addition, students from Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia can not apply for Karlstad University Global Scholarship. However, they can obtain scholarships from other sources, especially the Swedish institute.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship at Karlstad University?
