Over 100 scholarships are available for students of MBA programs under the INSEAD leadership. These scholarships are INSEAD Business School’s way of ensuring that students get the education they deserve, notwithstanding the insufficiency of funds. The plethora of scholarships that are offered by INSEAD has made the institution a favorite of students who aspire to become businessmen or top executives in the corporate world. 

INSEAD Business School scholarships are awarded under three main categories – merit-based, need-based, and spot scholarships. Each category has various types of scholarships with specific eligibility standards. INSEAD scholarships are full-tuition scholarships that award a beneficiary a minimum of €19,700. About 30% of MBA students are beneficiaries of INSEAD Business School scholarships. 

Who sponsors INSEAD Business School Scholarships?

The scholarships are sponsored by many benefactors amongst whom are INSEAD Alumni Associations, various foundations, business organizations, and private donations. INSEAD Business School is the principal sponsor of the INSEAD scholarships. 

About INSEAD Business School

INSEAD is an acronym for Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires. The institution was established in 1957 as a non-profit graduate-only business school with campuses in Europe (Fontainebleau, France), Asia (Singapore), the Middle East (Abu Dhabi, UAE), and North America (San Francisco, United States)INSEAD does not admit more than 12% of students of the same nationality in a bid to ensure cultural diversity. Furthermore, the school requires each student to speak two languages on entry, and three languages by graduation.INSEAD is popularly known as the Business School for the World. 

Categories of INSEAD Business School Scholarships

There are three main categories of INSEAD Business School Scholarships, and between these three, there are more than 100 scholarships available for students pursuing an MBA program at the institution.

#1. INSEAD Need-based Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to students who can prove financial need. Applicants who apply for INSEAD Need-based Scholarships must provide financial information and other documents, to support their application.

a. INSEAD Alumni Association Scholarship Fund

This scholarship awards up to € 25,000, to a student who contributes to diversity in the school, and demonstrates financial need. In addition, the scholarship is awarded on the basis of the recipient’s background – education, work experience, achievements and personal profile.

b. INSEAD Alumni Fund Robin Hood Scholarship    

About € 20,000 is available for students who can explain the difficulty they encountered in raising funds for their studies. They will be required to write an essay outlining their ambitions for their future career and growth. The essay must not be less than 300 words.

c. INSEAD Need-based Scholarship

Applicants who are able to explain and prove the challenge they encountered to raise funds for the MBA program, will receive about € 12,000. The applicants must write a 400-word essay about themselves, as well as a 350-word financial summary. The financial summary will be verified.

d. INSEAD Alumni Fund Diversity Scholarship

Applicants from developing or emerging countries are eligible for €10,000 if they can prove the challenge of raising adequate funds for their MBA program. For this, the applicants must write 350 words about their financial situation, and the cash flow prediction for the year.

 #2. INSEAD Merit-based Scholarships

This scholarship category is based on the academic and professional background of the recipients, as well as nationality, gender, leadership abilities, or a combination of these qualities. Merit-based scholarships aim at different categories of applicants. There are scholarships for women, entrepreneurs, professionals, the LGBT community, and specific nationalities.

a. INSEAD Alumni Fund Women’s Scholarship

Women can benefit from this scholarship worth €15,000, if they can write a 150 to 200-word essay explaining why they should benefit from this scholarship. Also in the essay, they should enumerate what differentiates them from other applicants for the same scholarship.

b. INSEAD Forte Foundation Fellowship

€15,000 is available for applicants who can demonstrate exemplary leadership in academic and team play. Applicants must explain in no more than 500 words why they should be a Forte Fellow in the INSEAD class.

#3. INSEAD Spot Scholarships

Candidates do not need to apply for these scholarships. They are awarded upon admission on the basis of their exceptionality or uniqueness. Recipients will be notified of this award once they gain admission to INSEAD Business School.

a. The INSEAD Louis and Evelyn Franck Endowed Award for Excellence

Candidates are considered on the basis of their application for admission. If successful, students will receive a notification of this award within one week after admission.

INSEAD Business School Scholarships are available for students pursuing an MBA degree in Business Administration and Business Management.

What degree level is eligible for INSEAD Business School Scholarships?

INSEAD Business School Scholarships are for students who are working to be awarded the MBA degree, and who have amassed three to eight years of work experience.

Eligibility Criteria

There are certain requirements you must fulfill to be eligible for INSEAD Business School Scholarships. These requirements vary according to the type of scholarship you are applying for. You will be judged on the quality of your scholarship essays and the extent to which you meet the criteria for eligibility. Also, your eligibility will depend on the category of INSEAD Scholarships you are applying for. 

1. Need-based Scholarships

Candidates must prove that they require financial assistance by submitting the following documents:

  • Proof of salary (the most recent payslip or a letter from your employer)
  • Bank statements for the last three months that will show the activities on your account. On-line printouts are acceptable.
  • If you have dependents or medical bills to pay, or if you filed for bankruptcy within the past year, provide relevant documentation.
2. Merit-based Scholarships
  • Candidates are required to give a brief description of themselves.
  • Must answer essay type questions in 350 to 500 words. These are different from admission application essays.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated exemplary leadership skills.

Fees & Funding

Are INSEAD Business School Scholarships stackable?

If you are lucky to receive an INSEAD scholarship as well as a full tuition external scholarship, the business school will withdraw your INSEAD award and relocate it to another candidate. However, if the external scholarship is a partial tuition award, the school will consider letting it stack with your INSEAD award.

The scholarships offer partial and full tuition, with an average of 17,500 Euros

Are international students eligible for INSEAD Business School Scholarships?

Students from all nationalities are eligible for the INSEAD scholarships. In fact, INSEAD Business School is passionate about a culturally diverse and inclusive student body. As a result, the school ensures that each academic year, its student population does not comprise more than 12% of students of the same nationality. That way, all nationalities are adequately represented. 

Application Procedure

INSEAD Business School Scholarship applications are available in the first three rounds of admission. Deadlines for submission of application for INSEAD Business School Scholarships are as follows:

Round 3 – 2 August

Round 2 –  8 June 

Round 1 – 20 April
