Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Scholarships: Detailed Guide

New Delhi is one of the 23 National Centers for Higher Education created specifically for training, research and development in fields such as science, technology and engineering in India.

The Institute was established in 1961 and converted into an Institution of National Importance in 1963. It was later designated as an Institution of National Importance under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963 and was thereafter renamed as Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. It was subsequently designated as a Deemed University and was permitted to conduct its own examinations and to decide its own academic policy.

Students enrolled in several courses are eligible for financial assistance or scholarships established by the Indian Institute of Technology. Scholarships help students cover education costs and other miscellaneous charges during the period of their academic programme. Students must meet the criteria set by the institute for consideration for these scholarships.

These alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, today work as scientists, technologists, business managers and entrepreneurs. There are a lot of alumni who have shifted away from their original disciplines and have undertaken responsibilities of administrative services, active politics or are with NGOs. They have contributed largely to building the technological foundation of this nation and to industrialization around the world.

Scholarship Benefits

IITD’s scholarships are need-based, meaning that only those who cannot afford the costs of education are eligible for them. This ensures that the most deserving students benefit from the institute’s generosity. The scholarships are also merit-based, so only the best students are chosen to receive them.
