The Taiwanese government and I-Shou University proudly sponsor the I-Shou University Scholarships. It awarded funding to international and talented students who want to study and research in Taiwan. 

Overview of I-Shou University 

I-Shou University is a private institution in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It was established in 1986 by Mr I-Shou Lin to honour his mother and to benefit the villages and towns where he began his business. Overview of Kaohsiung, Taiwan

It is recognized for its diversity of parks. The city is renowned for its historical attractions, walking paths and cafes close to its banks, and cruise boats navigating its waters. It brings out cool weather, with over 2.7 million people. While studying in Taiwan’s Maritime Capital, you’ll explore several places like 85 Sky Tower, the incredible Formosa Boulevard MRT station, and the Old British Consulate. Mandarin Chinese is the country’s official language, and the nation’s currency is the New Taiwan Dollar.

List of Scholarships that are offered at the I-Shou University 

The government of Taiwan and I-Shou University provides scholarships to encourage and subsidize international students to apply for admission to I-Shou University. There are different types of Scholarships at ISU. The prominent ones are:

#1. International Student Scholarship

The International Student Scholarship at ISU aims to support unique international students with vital academic records and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is awarded to many outstanding international students each year. It covers full tuition and fees for the duration of the student’s program. Its worth is between NT$40,000 and NT$180,000 per person for new students, while returning students will receive at least NT$10,000 per person.

#2. Scholarship granted by ROC Ministry of Education

The scholarship granted by the ROC Ministry of Education aims to support high-qualified students interested in pursuing their studies in undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and language programs. The government grants it through a Taiwan Overseas Mission before they arrive in Taiwan.

#3. Scholarship granted by Kaohsiung City Government

The scholarship granted by Kaohsiung City Government at ISU aims to support and attract high-qualified international students active in cultural exchange or social service activities. Students will finish their undergraduate and graduate programs with this full scholarship. Once your application is successful, it’ll cover tuition fees, on-campus accommodation, and living allowance.

How Many Students Receive I-Shou University Scholarships?

A minimum of five students get the I-Shou University Scholarships. It’ll, however, depend on the school’s annual budget.

What Field of Study is eligible for the I-Shou University Scholarships?

I-Shou University scholarships are not field-sensitive. Thus, all students can apply for a scholarship while enrolled in any undergraduate, doctoral, or master’s program at I-Shou University.

How much is the I-Shou University scholarship?

The I-Shou University Scholarship for international students is fully funded for the entire program duration. It covers accommodation, Tuition, Stipends, and living allowance., and also ranges between NT$40,000 and NT$180,000 per new student. You must have the required documents for a candidate to be eligible for this scholarship.

What is the duration of the scholarship?

The scholarship covers all semesters through either undergraduate, master, or doctoral programs. 

Is the scholarship fully or partially funded?

The I-Shou University Scholarship for international students is fully funded. The scholarship opportunity is available for all local students, and international students from abroad enrolled in the university.

Applicable Courses

The I-Shou University Scholarships for international students are available to students of all courses of study offered at ISU. These include and are not limited to these fields of study such as Artificial Intelligence Technology, Intelligent Network Technology, Information management, Data science and analytics, Information Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Health management.

International students at the institution are eligible to apply, and most importantly, applicants should respect Taiwan’s culture, traditions, norms, customs, and official religions.

Eligibility Criteria

The I-Shou University Scholarships for international students are highly competitive, with thousands of applicants. Finally, you must follow the following step to be successful;

  • It would be best to enrol in an undergraduate, postgraduate (master), or doctoral program at ISU.
  • Also, it would help if you demonstrated Chinese proficiency.
  • Likewise, you must be a citizen of a country other than Taiwan and be in good health.
  • It would be best to only benefit from this scholarship.
  • Continuing students must undergo service-learning in the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs
  • Likewise, candidates must be ranked among the top 40% in their class in terms of the average semester grade in the previous semester

Requirements for I-Shou University Scholarships

There are certain documents students need to gather and upload on the school website to apply for this scholarship. The papers should be in any form, and the originals will be presented at the time of registration. The Requirements for I-Shou University Scholarships include the following:

  • a completed application form;
  • a photocopy of the curriculum vitae;
  • Two letters of recommendation 
  • photocopies of certificates or proofs of academic studies and extracurricular activities;
  • a photocopy of the academic transcript for the highest degree or the
  • confirmation of class rank upon graduation (in Chinese or English); and
  • a photocopy of an official score report on any national exam held in an applicant’s state of nationality, if applicable
  • certificates of service-learning for continuing students
