The Equitable Excellence Scholarship is a partially-funded scholarship sponsored by the Equitable Foundation. It is the philanthropic division of Equitable and Equitable Advisors, an American financial services company headquartered in New York.

The foundation has disbursed over $1 million in scholarships to compensate students with potential and good academic achievements.

What Does the Equitable Excellence Scholarship Cover?

The Equitable Scholarship can cover part of your tuition, books, or room & board fees up to $5,000 annually.

More precisely, 100 $5,000 renewable scholarships are available yearly to support students for up to four academic years. Another 100 $2,500 one-time scholarships are awarded annually. Your favourite teacher will also receive a $500 gift card.

How Many Students Receive the Equitable Excellence Scholarship a Year?

200 high school seniors benefit from the Equitable Foundation Scholarship to fund their study-related expenses at a reputable academic institution. While 100 scholarships are renewable for subsequent years, the other half are non-renewable and are one-time scholarships.

Duration of the Equitable Foundation Scholarship

The Equitable Scholarships vary in duration, ranging from one to four years, depending on the funding received by each student. They are renewable for subsequent years only if you meet specific terms and conditions.

Is the Equitable Foundation Scholarship Fully or Partially Funded Scholarship?

The Equitable Scholarship is a partially funded scholarship worth $2,500 or $5,000 annually. Disbursements take place in August.

Eligibility Criteria for the Equitable Excellence Scholarship Program

You must meet the following requirements before applying for the Equitable Excellence Scholarship.

  • Be a current high school Grade 12 student living in the US, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico
  • Intend to enroll in a full-time two or four-year program at an accredited college or university in the USA. Besides, your intended studies must start in the upcoming academic year.
  • Have a GPA of at least 2.5/4.0 or its equivalent.
  • Portray your ambition and self-motivation for good conduct in school, community, or job responsibilities.
  • Be ready to authorize the publicity of your identities, information, and photos in the scholarship program’s promotion.

But if you’re affiliated with the Equitable and Equitable Advisors as an employee, associate, financial professional, or part of their family member, you are ineligible to apply for the scholarship.

Eligible Nationalities for the Equitable Scholarship

The Equitable Scholarship is open to applications from students of all nationalities. Thus, international students can apply for the scholarship, provided they live legally in the US, DC, or Puerto Rico.

What Field of Study is Eligible for the Equitable Scholarships?

The Equitable Scholarship is open to students pursuing a college diploma or university degree in any discipline. Hence, the scholarship does not require applicants to possess enrollment in a specific field of study.

How to Apply for the Equitable Excellence Scholarship

Applications for the Equitable Scholarships will open in the fall (October 2024), requiring eligible students to apply through Scholarship America Hub. You must complete and submit your scholarship application before the deadline, usually around December 15.

During the application process, you’ll have to upload your current academic transcripts featuring your name, school name, and grades. You also need to write an essay about your intention to portray your ambition and self-motivation for good conduct in school, community, or work.
