What rules apply to housing for transfer students?

If a single student in a full-time program does not fulfill one of the following requirements, they are not exempt from the requirement to live on campus. Eastern Mennonite University believes that residence hall living promotes social and emotional growth.

  • If you live with your parents, spouse, or legal guardians, written permission from these people is required.

Yes! Eastern Mennonite University offers transfer students several incentives and scholarships. Visit www.emu.edu/financial-aid/transfer for more information.

Is it possible to earn a degree online?

The Association of Theological Schools, our certifying organization, forbids students from earning all degrees online. For any degree, you must finish a third of the curriculum while living on campus. However, we provide hybrid courses that satisfy residence requirements and necessitate a student spend one week every semester on campus.  Also, some courses are only online courses.

What kind of scholarships and financing is available at Eastern Mennonite University?

Students pursuing degrees are the only ones eligible for financial help and awards.

  • The Mennonite student stipend, worth $750 each semester, is available to full-time Mennonites (9+ hours per semester).
  • The Church Matching Grant is available to students taking more than five credits.
  • Other rewards may be available to students having a strong sense of calling, leadership qualities, and intellectual aptitude.
