Craiova University is a prestigious state university in Romania established in 1947. Its strategic development and operational partnerships with representatives of the socioeconomic and cultural environment aim to provide students with solid practical training. As a result, the University of Craiova is one of the top ten universities in Romania. Also, it is one of the 26 universities in Romania that receive fully-funded government scholarship sponsorship.

1. AUF Scholarships (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie)

AUF transliterates to Francophone University Agency (AUF). The following awards are available to international students pursuing graduate, research, and postgraduate studies at Craiova University.

Grants under the AUF scheme include;

Initial Training Grants

For bachelor’s and master’s studies. These training grants enable students from AUF member universities to complete all or part of their second or third-cycle studies in a Postgraduate, Master, or equivalent academic work in a country that is not their home country. 

Research Training Grants  

These grants are for doctoral and postdoctoral studies. It is awarded to Doctoral researchers to help them prepare and defend their theses. Their duration is one academic year and renewable based on performance.

2. Eugen Ionescu Grants

The Government of Romania sponsors and funds the Eugen Ionescu program. It achieves this through the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the 28 top universities in the country. The Eugen Ionescu program provides researchers from OIF member or observer countries with three-month research mobility in one of the 28 outstanding higher education institutions in Romania.

The Eugen Ionescu grant is available only to domestic and international students pursuing their doctoral and postdoctoral studies in courses offered by the 28 outstanding Romanian universities.

3. DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) Scholarships 

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides individual scholarships for Romanian students, graduates, postgraduates, and researchers. They receive funding for language courses, master’s degrees, and research internships in doctoral programs at German universities.

4. Fulbright Grants

The Fulbright Program is a collaboration between Romania and America. This Romanian-American commission gives study and research scholarships to Romanian citizens at prestigious universities in the United States and American citizens at renowned Romanian universities.

  • Junior Fulbright Award – Available to Romanian students in their final year of graduate, postgraduate, PhD, and research studies in all educational fields except clinical medicine.

5. ONBSS (Oficiul Naţional al Burselor de Studii în Străinătate (O.N.B.S.S.)

The Arab Republic of Egypt’s government unilaterally offers a scholarship for postgraduate studies taught in Arabic, English, or French. The scholarship is available in any field other than medicine, pharmacology, technology, urban planning, and archaeology.

Free tuition, accommodation, and maintenance are parts of the benefits of the scholarship.

Yes. According to Craiova University Scholarship application guidelines, you must hold an admission offer into the university of Craiova or be a bona fide student before the scholarship committee can consider you for a scholarship.

If awarded Craiovao University Scholarship, can I defer my scholarship?

No, you cannot defer a scholarship for any reason whatsoever. If you postpone your scholarship with Craiova University, you lose the scholarship privileges.

Can I still apply for Craiova University Scholarship despite having an invalid international passport?

You can apply for a Craiova University Scholarship with your legitimate national identity document and a resident permit. However, if the university selects you for the scholarship, you will need a valid passport to process your visa and travel.

Will my previous Craiova University Scholarship performance affect my current chances if I apply again?

No. Your current Craiova University Scholarship application is independent of your former application. And so, your current chances cannot be affected by your previous scholarship performance. 

Do I require evidence of my studies even if I am in the final year of my current academic program?

Yes, you do. If you are a finalist in your current study program, you need a certificate to prove that you are in your final year of study. Also, you will still need to provide your transcripts as eligible criteria for the course of study you wish to apply for at Craiova University.
