The BTU Scholarship is worth $2,000, given to high school seniors who are grandchildren, children, nephews, nieces, grandparents, or grandnieces of the Retired Teachers Chapter of the Boston Teachers Union. And yes, the scholarship is renewable. So far, you meet the criteria for renewal.

  • You must provide a transcript of your last two years of academic work.
  • Evidence of acceptance by an accredited college, junior college, vocational school, or equivalent institution
  • Member’s notarized federal tax return for the previous year.
  • You must include a one-page statement of your professional goals. Note that the union must receive the application and the other four supporting documents in the Union office no later than April 25th, 2022.

Application Procedure

How to apply for the BTU Scholarship

If you meet the eligibility criteria for the BTU Scholarship, you should fill out the Request for Application: bit.ly/unafraidscholarship. Once you complete the form, you are to check your mail for registration confirmation.

After a week, the union will share a scholarship application with you in the registered mail. Fill in the application, and submit it before the deadline. The deadline is May 1st, 2023. However, you may pick up the application form at the RTC/BTU offices at 180 Mt. Vernon Street, Dorchester, MA 02125.
