The moment you apply to study at the Booth School of Business, you become eligible for a merit-based scholarship, awards, and fellowships. The Booth School of Business Scholarships are designed in such a way that you do not need to apply especially for them – they are like a right of passage especially if you express a passion to make an impact in the world of business.

There are various scholarships that the Booth School of Business awards to students who register for MBA programs, and these scholarships are usually full tuition waivers for the two years MBA program.

The scholarships are listed under the following broad categories:

Booth Merit-Based Scholarships

Merit-based scholarships are awarded to students who show exceptional academic skills, are competitive, and have distinctive career goals. This scholarship type is for both international and indigenous students.

Booth Global Innovator Fellowships

Global Innovators are students who are ambitious in their pursuit of global recognition. They are students who want to change the business world from ordinary to unique. Global Innovators can be from any part of the world and do not need to apply especially for the fellowship. Just like recipients of merit-based awards, they are considered based on the information they provide during their application to study at Booth. 

Booth Industry Awards

Industry Awards are given to incoming students who want to pursue a career in various management fields. For example, Canfield Private Equity Fellowship targets students who have previous experience in investment banking or have worked in investment companies. The Fellowship is granted to students who plan to settle for a career in investment management. Other industry awards are Herman Family Fellowship for Women Entrepreneurs, and Kilts Marketing Fellowship, among others.

Booth Leadership Awards

This is a full tuition award to students who exhibit exceptional leadership qualities, and a willingness to impact the Booth community and the business world. Awards granted under the category of Leadership Awards are Distinguished FellowshipForte Foundation FellowshipMarvin Zonis International Scholarship, and Zmijewski Scholarship

Other scholarship categories are Military Awards (for students who serve or are serving in the US Army), Regional Awards (each particular regional award is for students from certain regions), and External Awards (scholarships given by foundations, organizations, and other sources).

What field of study is the Booth School of Business Scholarship meant for?

The scholarships are for incoming students who want to pursue courses in the field of business studies and investment management as well as marketing. The scholarship is for all business management programs.

Eligibility Criteria

The first prerequisite for a Booth School of Business Scholarship is the completion of the first degree in a business management program or a related field.

Here are other requirements for the scholarship:

  1. Applicants must be full-time students with an MBA degree from Booth. Some merit-based scholarships are available to part-time students.
  2. Applicants must be competitive and career minded
  3. Must demonstrate a passion for driving unique and lasting impact in the business world
  4. Must exhibit leadership in academics, team, or community development

Fees & Funding

Is the Booth School of Business Scholarship full or partial funding?

The scholarship is partial funding and although it may give you a full tuition waiver, depending on your grades and qualifications, you must bear such expenses as accommodation, student service fees, as well as books and health insurance among others. However, some Booth School of Business Scholarships awards further stipends to beneficiaries, apart from tuition waivers.

Are part-time MBA students eligible for a Booth School of Business Scholarship?

A limited number of merit-based scholarships and fellowship awards are available to part-time students of the Booth School of Business, thanks to alumni contributions.

Are international students eligible for the Booth School of Business Scholarship?

Yes, the scholarship is available to all students, both international and indigenous. The exceptions are Booth Regional Scholarships which target students from specific countries or areas.

Are undergraduates eligible for the Booth School of Business Scholarships?

No, undergraduates are not eligible for the scholarship because the school of business is for MBA and Ph.D. programs. There are scholarships available to undergraduates at Chicago University which houses the Booth School of Business. 

How can I apply for a Booth School of Business Scholarship?

Scholarships at Booth School of Business are awarded to students on the basis of academic achievement and leadership skills as well as community service. Beneficiaries are selected during the process of application for graduate studies at the school. No separate application is submitted for scholarships.
