Opportunities for Study and Scholarships at Auckland University of Technology (AUT)

1. Te Whatu Ora Southern Scholarship

Te Whatu Ora Southern Scholarship is available to students in Bachelor of Health Science in Perioperative Practice in their second and third years of study. Due to an integral part that the Anaesthetic Technicians at Te Whatu Ora Southern form in the perioperative team the departments, the university is invested in growing people with similar values and high level of patient care through the scholarship it offers.

There are up to six available scholarships. The scholarships are available and also renewable annually. The scholarship amounts to a total value of $4,000 each. This disbursement comes as a contribution to tuition fees. It comes in installments; $2,000 in the second year and $2,000 in the third year of study.

2. AUT Fulbright Scholarships

The AUT Fulbright Scholarships are available to all international students of the university pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree. The scholarship board awards one scholarship every year under the following scholarship category;

AUT Fulbright Doctoral Scholarship

This scholarship covers the full-tuition fees and includes a stipend of NZ$25,000 per annum for students in their second and third years of the Doctoral program at AUT. This scholarship is tenable until the recipient submits their thesis or for two years. 

AUT Fulbright Research Masters Scholarship

This scholarship also covers the full-tuition fees for the 90 or 120-pt thesis component of the academic degree. It also includes a stipend of NZ$15,000 (120 pt thesis) or NZ$11,250 (90 pt thesis) per year during the research component only.

Masterā€™s scholarships are tenable throughout the degree program and thesis defense.

3. AUT International Excellence Scholarship – South Asia 

The Auckland University of Technology (AUT) International Excellence Scholarship provides this scholarship to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students except for doctoral students. This scholarship aims to recognize and support high-achieving international students from South Asia in their journey to becoming great graduates of AUT.

Only citizens of Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and Maldives are eligible.

The scholarship awards amount to NZD$ 5,000 in contribution towards tuition fees. It is a yearly scholarship and renewable upon satisfactory academic performance. There are ten scholarship openings. This scholarship is available to students who hold admission offers into the university programs.


Students currently under the New Zealand AUT NCUK scholarship and scholarships from their home government or the New Zealand government cannot apply for this scholarship.

4. Des Graydon Memorial Scholarship 

The Des Graydon Memorial Scholarship is an annual scholarship worth $6,000. The scholarship is contestable yearly and covers contributions towards second and third-year tuition fees for a Bachelor of business.

The scholarship is accessible for full-time academic study. Scholarship recipients can apply for deferment. However, the university will grant this request only in exceptional circumstances.

  • Applicants must be international or domestic students admitted to a full-time degree 
  • Applicants must have their admission offer with them
  • Applicants must indicate interest in the scholarship or must submit a separate application for the scholarship Candidates must have a detailed academic transcript for the most recent educational qualification
  • Applicants must achieve a minimum GPA of 7.5 across 120 pts, 
  • Candidates for the scholarship must demonstrate exceptional merit and financial hardship
