Nelson Mandela African Institutes of Science and Technology (NM-AISTs) was established in 2009. The initiative was launched by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, in partnership with the governments of Tanzania.

The NM-AISTs are a Pan-African network of world-class science and engineering research institutes. The NM-AISTs are committed to developing the next generation of African scientists and engineers, who will be leaders in their fields and contribute to the economic and social development of the continent.

The institutes also undertake research relevant to the needs of Africa and its people and disseminate the findings for the benefit of society.

The scholarships are sponsored by the  African University of Science and Technology University.

  • You should be admitted to NM-AIST as a full-time student
  • You must be willing to learn the English language
  • You should have completed your Bachelor’s degree with an outstanding academic performance.
